I am an avid fan of Google Reader but I have now a sound reason to try AOL’s feed reader as AOL will be upgrading their feed reader with new AJAX tricks and enhanced OPML support. For your info, the AOL feed reader was launched a way back in 2005 in order to rival other feed readers online such as Bloglines, Google Reader etc. Although AOL reader offers a speedy load time but it hasn’t done anything special till date to make waves.
But now, it seems like they are ready up for a fight as they have announced to roll out a new version with an array of impressive features. If we take note of Google Reader, it holds a major market share. With the new AOL reader, feed organizing has been made much easier, thanks to the support for rich media and functional Ajax techniques. They have also addressed the problem of lack of OPML support. Moreover, they have stuffed in a new bookmarks product in with the feed reader.
I will be waiting for the AOL reader to go into beta so that we can find if it’s really impressive enough to battle other feed readers online.
