Kevin Rose has woken up to enforcing Digg’s trademark. Reason Kevin gives is that if Digg doesn’t do this, other sites would start using it and hence, there is a possibility that Digg might lose its name.
Kevin doesn’t want those websites already using the Digg name to shut down or for that matter even the clone sites to shut down. However, he is pleading that sites should ‘avoid using’ the Digg name.
My question is if I start a site called ILoveDigg.com will Kevin still have objections? Anyway, there are many sites using the Google name. Google doesn’t say anything to them. However, Google has a policy of not allowing participation of those sites using the Google brand names/trade marks in programs like AdSense.
Digg might well do well not to allow URLs of those sites using the Digg name in Digg.
Oh, this piece of news is via Digg the blog!
