It is bound to create a fresh debate in Europe on the proposed legislation that makes it mandatory for the users to provide their personal information while opening email accounts or web sites.

In the wake of increasing fake e-mail accounts, some of the European countries have come forward to introduce a new legislation that would cease fake e-mail accounts and web sites.

Under the proposed legislation, the Internet users must submit their personal identification to their respective governments while opening an account. The prime objective of the new legislation is to assist government agencies in terror investigations.

Until now, the Internet users in Europe don’t require to give their detailed information for mail accounts. For example, if a user wants to set up a Gmail Account, he does it by simply giving his name and password. Same case is with Microsoft’s Hotmail. As a result of which, the real identification of the user is not revealed.

As of now, the German and Dutch governments are giving high sounds on the proposed online law. However, the law is bound to face sharp criticism as Europeans would not feel it secure to reveal their personal information on the privacy grounds.
