The threat from the viruses and hacking is growing and keeping this in mind the experts in this field are gathering for a two day Cybercrime conference which will be kept away from the public realms.
The meeting that is scheduled to start on Thursday at the Microsoft’s Redmond HQ will bring top internet security Honchos from various internet security firms together with legal-eagles and Government representatives to discuss and form strategies to tackle the growing menace of hacking, phishing and botnets that are increasingly becoming common.
The bad guys are generally one step ahead of the Cybercrime fighters and this conference will help in building trust and give platform to share knowledge.
The organizer and the evangelist of the security firm beyond security Gadi Evron says that the meeting will be aclosed door affair and adds,
‘For reasons of practicality as well as to help members feel safe to share and work in our environment, some privacy is required.’
The meeting is a secret affair as they certainly would not like to share the privilege data with the bad guys of the net.
Microsoft is slated to give two presentations on the security threats when no patch has been released to cover the possible holes known as zero-day flaws. Hackers often exploit these zero-day flaws to add PC to botnets.
Among the top firms that are expected to attend the conference include apart from the ones discussed above are Symantec, Trend Micro, Websense, AOL, Cisco, Microsoft, Sun and Qwest. The Govt representatives may include FBI, Secret service and US computer Emergency readiness team. Many Universities will also be represented in the conference.
Chief research officer at Norman Data Defense Systems, Righard Zwienenberg, says,
‘Co-operation at all levels, technical, legal, government, is needed to contain the problem, without worldwide laws and co-operation, we might lose the battle in the end.”
