A beta version of Flock, 1.0 is out for free download. The web browser, based on closely Mozilla codes, is not just a web browser with a few selective plugins. The first version of this web browser with the ability to enable interaction with popular social networking web services was demonstrated in September.
This release brings forth a few interesting and exclusive features and a few selective social networking tie-ins. One of the prominent new additions is the sidebar with the social networking tie-ins such as Flickr, Del.icio.us, Technorati, Photobucket, and Magnolia and the support for Facebook, Flickr, Twitter and YouTube. The sidebar looks promising for Facebook lovers with direct upload of images and few options pointing directly to the website itself. The other handy feature is Twitter app, which allows direct messaging and checking profiles as well as nudging friends. Now one can edit or create accounts with the account support for Photobucket, Piczo, Del.icio.us and Magnolia also available at the sidebar. There is also a Media Mini Bar, which allows to search, stream and view content with integrated sites like Flickr, Facebook and YouTube. The drag and drop upload will surely be taken as a treat. The new interesting web clipboard feature also has drag and drop facility to keep a record of favorite objects, URLs or text pieces or images like a store to keep customized items for using when required.
The blogging client feature, as the name suggests, helps users to access their blogs and make necessary additions but the trickiest part is that one has to upload images to Facebook or flicker to be able to upload to blogs but the point which makes it vulnerable when one uses it to upload images from other sites. Among the other interesting features is RSS Reader, which is quite comparable to Google Reader. The traditional users may not like is it immensely but flock will definitely find its fans. And the interesting new features may take some time for one to get addicted but geeks would not lag behind to try it and may also fall in love with its cool interface.
