Here is good news for Gmail users as now they will no longer be limited to the Gmail.com user interface. Gmail is getting one more support from Google for IMAP clients like Outlook, Thuderbird and the iPhone. If you have IMAP enabled account, then you can follow these steps to configure your account and your client software. Since IMAP is a two-way protocol, IMAP client application can interact with IMAP servers like Gmail, so data on both sides stays in sync. If you have multiple IMAP client applications, then they will show the same e-mail messages, including indicating which messages have been read as long as you will stay connected. IMAP allows you to manage your email account from different computers and clients without having to worry about replication issues. IMAP provides you much more synchronized solution whereas POP fails to deal with your email for all points of access. Google has not officially announced for IMAP support. If you are trying to use Gmail from Outlook due to its quick access of IMAP, then you will find it is slightly different from Gmail’s native interface.
