Time is not so far when Google will tell you what you want at what time. It is because of the strong database which Google is supposedly developing by comprehensive consumer surveillance. I reported here refereeing to the Privacy International’s report on Privacy Ranking.
Fazed by sharp criticisms from cyber rights groups, the search king has assured the policy makers that it is now developing new technologies to protect the privacy of the internet users, especially those who enter into Google’s search land.
It seems sound in the wake of Google’s preparation to acquire DoubbleClick, one the leading online advertising companies in the world.
David Drummond, the Chief Legal Officer at Google was quoted by Reuters while saying,
We have consulted with numerous privacy, consumer and industry groups in developing these ideas and have endeavored to be responsive to their concerns,” he said in written testimony for a Senate Judiciary subcommittee.
Google has been widely criticized for comprehensive consumer surveillance. Suppose, you use Google services say, Gmail, Desktop, Google Finance, Google Search, Picasa, YouTube etc, your online behavior will be monitored and kept in a database anywhere in the Google kingdom.
From that database, Google can learn users’ tastes, fashions and habits and accordingly sends advertising links.
With DoubleClick waiting for Google’s acquisition, serious concerns have been raised on the privacy of the online users.
Google has informed the US Senate that it is developing a new technology known as ‘crumbled cookie’, which would not store internet user’s personal information.
