Its time now for IBM to come to the party they have decided to launch the Second Life IBM business group.

Second Life is the virtual world designed and managed by Linden Lab. It has got its own economy and currency called the Linden dollars.
The people can make their online avatars and can do virtually all the stuff that a person can do in normal real life.
IBM’s vice president of technical strategy and innovation, Irving Wladawsky-Berger, says that IBM has a strong presence in Second life with close to 1000 IBM employs having their avatars / accounts in this virtual 3D world.
Wladawsky-Berger said,
“I have been playing a strong role in helping us start our 3D Internet and virtual-world efforts. We are launching a new EBO in this area in January–that is, an emerging business opportunity–much like we did with Linux and the grid.”
The virtual IBM office got the legitimacy when their chief Executive Sam Palmisano arrived in the virtual world during his visit to Beijing.
At present IBM has one public island in the Second Life and the IBM spokesman Mathew McMahon said that IBM’s virtual office might be used for the customer care sighting and example he said,
“Instead of me trying to explain in a phone call how to unscrew your hard drive, someone in a more immersive 3D world could actually show you.’
IBM is not the first company to open its office in the Second Life but many corporate giants like Toyota Motor Corp., Adidas AG, American Apparel Inc, Dell and Sun also have their presence in this world.
