It would be the future virtual world where avatars will move freely from one virtual world to another. It is the collective effort of IBM and the Second Life creator, Linden Lab.
They are developing interoperability standards and protocols based on open-source software to widen the borders between virtual worlds ensuring secure, stable and high quality services on 3D platforms. As of now, avatars are ensnared in the internet-based virtual worlds in which they are created.
Colin Parris, Vice President at IMB digital convergence explained,
As the 3D Internet becomes more integrated with the web, we see users demanding more from these environments and desiring virtual worlds that are fit for business.
The 3D virtual world will enable internet users to create their own digital alter-ego that can visit many virtual worlds without changing name, look and digital currency. It will also help companies to use internet most effectively in recruiting, meetings and employee trainings purposes.
