Indian government is holding talks with Google over the issue of high resolution images of the country displayed on Google Earth service. Indian defence personnel have already shown their anxiety over the security measures last year regarding the satellite imaging program’s level of detail at sensitive locations.
Though Computerworld says that the spokeswoman for Google India has denied any agreement, an article of Times of India reports that Google has settled to blur or distort the installations instead of blacking them totally. Other than India, Australia, Russia, South Korea and Thailand are also asking for blur sensitive images.
Google earth service was launched back in June 2005 with India been added in September. But the satellite images of Indian metros made Indian President to worry since terrorists could possibly use them to map their attacks.
