Marissa MayerAt 31, Marissa Mayer is a heroine. She is a grand success story in Google and one of the most recognized face in the business world. The brain and force behind Google News and the site’s primary-colour home page is going to deliver a speech today on the importance of taking to the Web by the TV industry.

Now, are the TV industry getting jittery over her suggestions and wary of her designs? After all, the proposition is such that one can’t help but think that it is definitely an attempt to snatch the ad pie and audience. However, she is not moved. Contrary to what many believe, she says that the Web is not an enemy of the TV industry, but a friend.

She says;

The internet creates more of an appetite for media - it doesn’t replace physical books, radio or TV,” she says in our interview before her first appearance at the Media Guardian TV festival. “I don’t think it should be a threat to existing business models. It should cause users to consume more.
Google Video was launched in eight European countries in July offering a mixture of homemade shows. The popularity of Google Video in the US made Google to remove Froogle from its homepage and added Google Video in its place.

On this she says;
It may change the way people consume video - make them consume a lot more.

All right! So, what exactly is going on in Mayer’s mind? I am sure her designs for the TV industry are much complex than it appears on the surface. She is keeping us guessing, the TV industry guessing. All for this, it is proving to be futile to get her out of my mind you see. :-P
