With web-based Instant Messaging getting wide acceptance among the online users in recent years, the startup like Meebo will continue dominate the IM market for its innovative offers.
After launching IM service for iPhone users, Meebo has just announced yet another addition to their IM service. It is the file sharing service; the service has been in growing demand for the last several months.
Meebo has finally fulfilled that. The users can now send files to other IM clients from the chat window. We should keep in mind that the IM clients should support file sharing service.
Meebo becomes the first company to offer file sharing features in webchat, which otherwise confined to desktop-based file sharing applications. However, the users may be bit disappointed at the file transfer limits. As of now, they can not send a file exceeding 10MB. Meebo has also fixed total monthly file transfer per user at 30MB. It means that you can not send video clips or other large files.
Launched in September 2005, Meebo carries more than 100 million instant messages every day supporting popular IM clients such as Yahoo! Messenger, Windows Live Messenger, Google Talk, AIM, ICQ and Jabber. More than six million people enjoy their services every month. Most of them spend nearly two hours every day.
