In the latest accusation leveled on the Microsoft is that it’s trying to ‘hijack HTML’ with its soon to be launched Vista platform. These were leveled by Simon Awde, the chairman of the European Committee for interoperable systems(ECIS).
Awde said that the new XAML markup language is build in such a way that it will work only on windows platform and is not cross-platform by nature thereby when it replaces the HTML around the world people will be forced to use Windows OS for operating XAML.
Awde, has gone of the mark with these accusations as the HTML is the present standard in which the website coding is done so nobody will like to go back to the drawing board again and write million and millions of coding again. This is reason one that HTML will not be replaced .
The second reason is that XAML is based on the XML platform and has not been built ground up so let the Windows and its user have the sole right on XAML as this will not change anything in the web world as long as HTML is free.
Thirdly XML does not have such features that HTML has like forms for submitting info to the server.
Fourthly the advantages gained from shifting to XMAL platform are not compelling enough to make the shift.
The statement was in response to the complaint submitted before ECIS by software companies like IBM, Nokia, Sun Microsystems, Adobe, Oracle and Red Hat. Microsoft is mum at this moment but ECIS is investigating the complaint.
