Microsoft has outclassed Google in the web-based email service by expanding the size of inboxes for Windows Live Hotmail users, who can now enjoy 5GB of free storage capacity and 10GB of paid storage capacity.
Microsoft has confirmed the recent enhancements stating,
Yes the Hotmail team has been quiet for a while since their v1 launch, however they’ve just launched a small but feature-packed update. As well as offering free accounts the new storage size of 5GB, paying customers (Hotmail Plus or MSN Premium) now get 10GB.
As of now, Google provides around 2.8GB of storage space for a free account. Just a few days ago, the search king has announced further updates to its Gmail, Picasa, Google Docs and Spreadsheets with increased storage capabilities.
The gmail users will very soon get 6 gigabytes of online storage for $20 per year. They need to pay $75 per year for 25 gigabytes, $250 per year for 100 gigabytes of storage and $500 per year for 250 gigabytes of storage.
Microsoft will enable users to store 10GB of e-mail data for a $14.99 annual subscription. The paid customers will enjoy a new feature. That is the ability to forward e-mail from their Hotmail account to a Gmail or other e-mail account.
Microsoft has also enabled Hotmail users to accept or reject requests from Outlook accounts, as well as a tool for removing fake contacts and an easier way to switch to Hotmail from other mail services.
