Finally, Microsoft has released a beta version of its Windows Media Centre Internet TV platform for Windows Vista machines and Xbox 360 platform.

Now the users of Windows Vista Home Premium edition and Windows Vista Ultimate edition can access wide range of television and video content on their PCs without using TV tunes on their PCs.

Initially, the service would be available for US and it will be delivered as a Windows update. The company stated that Internet TV will use the YuMe advertising platform.

It seems, the beta release of Microsoft’s TV service will come with limited content as they are only about 100 hours of programming available during the beta phase. The other features are given below:

1) Movie trailers from major studios
2) Full episodes of TV shows like ‘Arrested Development’
3) Full-length music concerts by artists like Snoop Dogg, Elton John, and many more
4) The latest news segments from MSNBC
5) Sports clips from FOX Sports

Users of Microsoft’s Xbox 360 will be happy to know that their consoles can be used as Windows Media Extenders to view the same content on Windows Vista. Linksys, D-Link and HP Windows Media Centre Extenders would be capable of streaming Internet TV content to high-definition TVs.
