The software giant, Microsoft is expanding its Windows Live service market by launching two new online services to its Windows Live line-up. The company has launched Windows Live Folders and Windows Live Photo Gallery, an online file-storage service for Windows Live.

Microsoft is already offering a suit of services, including web search under its Windows Live brand. The company is planning to launch range of services for Windows Live. The Windows Live Folders will allow people to store as much as 500 megabytes of data online for free, with uploads of 50 megabytes per file. The service will allow customers to create folders for their own access, for access by a limited set of people or for access by the general public through a web address corresponding to the file.

While Windows Live Photo Gallery is a new version of the photo application, which is found on Microsoft’s two most recent operating systems, Windows XP and Windows Vista. The service allows people to share photos on their Windows Live Spaces site, Microsoft’s social networking platform.

Microsoft is planning to give competition to its rivals Google Inc and Yahoo! Inc with its “software plus services” strategy. Soon company will offer a single installer, which will provide the option of an all-in-one download for the full Windows Live suite of services instead of the separate installation of Microsoft’s Windows Live.

Chris Jones, Microsoft’s corporate vice president, said

The sharing feature of Microsoft’s new Photo Gallery is similar to how users can publish pictures from Apple Inc.’s iPhoto application to the company’s .Mac online service.
