Mozilla is updating its service with the launch of new instant messaging application, called Instabird, which allows you to connect services mainstream instant messaging services, including AOL, MSN, and Yahoo!. Instabird merges two powerful open source projects; XULRunner, the stand-alone version of Firefox browsing engine; and libpurple, the library that gives Pidgin its ability to connect to most of the existing instant messaging networks. The first development, v0.1 provides you basic functionality from an instant messaging application. On the first run, an account wizard pops up to add your first IM account from any of the 16 networks. The new instant messaging application weighs only 13.1 megabytes, so it will easy for you to download on most broadband connections and windows users can download the application within 45 seconds. Instabird is available for Windows, Linux and Mac OSX.
