myspace-logo1_48Fearing the action from a group of 33 state attorneys general on rising the joining age limit from 14 to 16, MySpace has planned to free parental notification software dubbed “Zephyr” that will help the parents to find out what name, age and location their children use to characterize themselves on MySpace. Anyway, it won’t let the parents know the children’s e-mail and view their profile pages. And if the parents try to do the same, children will get an alert of their info being shared.

The Wall Street Journal said that a lawsuit would make for bad publicity for the site just as advertisers are overcoming their concerns about it. Since many of the MySpace teen users provide excess of info, they become more prone to internet baddies and sex offenders. Recently MySpace revealed its plans to purge phishing worm and sex offenders.

Well, the real problem is that the new service will violate the user’s privacy rights and who knows if anyone other than parents might use the technology to keep a tab on the children.
