Ask.com, the fourth most accepted search engine on the internet, has announced a major relaunch of its search engine. Ask.com has been trying its darn good to outshine Google and Yahoo for years. The new interface has been probably designed with simplicity in mind as the default homepage is almost all-white and least cluttered.

An interesting new feature is the option to select different backgrounds to be used for the main page. The video search gets better as you can watch the videos just by moving the cursor over the image. The video search is powered by Blinkx. The search engine gives result based on the user’s location and offer local businesses and events. The results can further be saved into folders for sharing purpose. The new look interface lets the users listen to music clips by clicking on the song title.

Well, the foremost change is that the results page is divided into three sections, hence the name ‘Ask3D.’ But, one thing that doesn’t look good is that the ads just look like the other search results. Anyway, the left side of the results page lets you customize the search while the right side of the page shows other types of results that are customized for the search.

Although they have done a good job but I don’t think the new interface will add to the loyalty of the searchers. They really need to look out for new things to make waves in the search engine industry.
