Last month, CNN.com launched a beta version of its new design and now, the enhanced multimedia site packed with web 2.0 features has gone live. The most notable thing about the new site is that both Google and Yahoo are the search providers for the site.

The new CNN.com features an array of multimedia functionalities such as live video content, which was earlier offered via the subscription-only CNN Pipeline. The video content, which is in flash now, is integrated into the main site and is being offered for free. The site also shows a recommendation feature called “We Recommend” that is based on past browsing.

The multimedia features, such as text, videos, photos, maps, charts have been put into tabbed sections to enhance the ease of use. There is a new section dubbed ‘Hot Topics’ for detailed multimedia content.

The new CNN.com impresses with all its new features and the site, which currently enjoys an average of more than 24 million unique users each month, is sure to great guns.
