Now, online news portals are making their way to classrooms too. An US study conducted lately propounded the fact that more teachers are making use of national and international online news sites in the classroom rather than the newspapers that are not able to teach the way internet is.
The survey was conducted with 1,262 US teachers. This clearly reflect the pitiable situation in terms of circulation and advertising revenue of newspapers in US as more and more people are shifting to online news sites. A teacher cited that ‘Students do not relate to newspapers at all — any more than they would to vinyl records.”
Teachers favor printed papers but only 8 percent said the newspaper was a student’s preferred pick. Well, the leading sites are owned by big organizations such as BBC, The New York Times Co. and CNN.
As we have already discussed a number of times that the traditional media is loosing its ground at a swift pace to the online media, we could possibly see the newspapers struggling to make a survival in the near future.
In US perspective, the upcoming time seems to be very tough for the newspapers as more and more people prefer online media for news and entertainment. But, it will not be the case with US only but the mounting trend of online media will put the traditional media in big trouble all around the globe.
