
Indicating its entry into social networking, Nokia has acquired photo and video sharing site, Twango for something around $97 million. Thus, the Nokia users should look forward to Twango’s multimedia content on their mobile devices as well as desktops.
Developed in 2004 by Microsoft staffs, the Redmond-based Twango is now one of the most reputed online media sharing sites supporting multiple file types such as photos, video, audio, and documents. It is also providing Google Earth services in its site.
Nokia explains,
The Twango acquisition is a concrete step towards our Internet services vision of providing seamless access to information, entertainment, and social networks - at anytime, anywhere, from any connected device, in any way that you choose.
With this acquisition, Nokia has joined with other mobile giants such as Samsung, Verizon and Sprint Nextel to spearhead in the areas of social networking.
