YouTube’s recent decision to pay original content generators
may have been influenced by the recent survey report by the Informa Telecoms & Media which suggests that online video business will be worth $6.3 billion by the year 2012 up from what its today’s net worth of $538 million.

The report further suggest about 65 per cent of the total business will come from North America. There are enough dollars already in the market to rake up but think of it now in terms of billions. Google and Chad Hurley will go all the way laughing to the bank.

Even now also there is huge demand for the user generated content and the analysts fear that in the long run it will easily shadow the mainstream media. People are as much interested in some weird experiment clip of a guy as they are interested in the happening news in mainstream media but in the longer run people prefer to watch alone in there rooms and this just a click away desired clip/ movie has more lure than TV programs.

The illegal video and movies have more demand then the legal downloadable movies. Many of these sites are free share user-generated like YouTube and CBS Innertube service and then there are pay sites like iTunes and Unbox but they all make money via same source on which mainstream media depends and that is through ads.

After user generated clips movies are the next big thing with even Apple with its Apple TV is trying to bring movies to the living rooms. There is plenty of space for someone with right intent and imagination to pull another YouTube like thing in Movie business.
