Here is good news for all those who enjoy sharing files and networking over the Internet. Freewebs, the site that allows you to create and host your own website for free has recently launched a new web page design tool. Pāgii as it is called, is a new way to create your own social network.
That’s right, this is the era of ‘personal’ social networking. Pāgii allows users to create their own space on the internet, where they can meet and interact with like-minded people. The advantage of using Pāgii to connect with people is that you get to express your creativity. Unlike other social networks where you could only create groups, Pāgii allows you to create and design your own web page. This is possible because Freewebs provides you with templates, and gives you the option of inserting YouTube videos, etc. to make the page more personal.
The look and feel of Pāgii will largely appeal to a young audience - with its colorful and jazzy look. Pāgii is easy to edit, users can simply drag and drop items, thereby eliminating the need to learn programming codes. Pāgii being a beta version currently supports only IE 7 and Firefox 2.0. Hopefully it will be supported by other browsers in the future.
Pāgii will be highly appreciated by those who like to create and display their photos and art work. Users can insert their multimedia files directly from Slide, Photobucket, Flickr, Miniclip and Pyzam. You can also have multiple users contribute to Pāgii, something similar to wiki sites.
With a host of features Pāgii might outdo other social networks that lack the personal touch. Currently Pāgii is hosted as a separate entity. Plans are underway to integrate Pāgii with Freewebs.
