Qlique, the newly launched real time, location-aware social network claims itself to be the next generation of social computing. The site aims at building a live social network that shows the people in your propinquity (up to 3,000 miles). It is certainly an appealing way to socialize with others
Qlique runs fully on Java and is not HTML based. The site is in beta phase for now. You have the option to customize your Qlique Live! Screen according to your taste. Qlique Live! Screen features a section dubbed ‘Persona‘ that offers you a chance of getting across your first impression to other users.
You can even play games with other Qliquers in the Qlique game lobby. In the lobby, you are allowed to chat, view or post messages to the lobby message board, throw a challenge to any Qliquer, join a game, and view scoreboards.
Qlique widgets are there to allow you to start games or quizzes with nearby members. You can use the widgets to discover interesting people and activities. They might allow you to add your own widgets too in the near future.
For now, Qlique is in beta phase and its location-awareness based approach is quite interesting. I think they will come out of beta with more enhanced features. Unfortunately, I created an account with the site but it didn’t work :-(
