youtube65_48YouTube recently got banned in Turkey and then the ban was lifted after two days. Earlier, Victoria, the second most populous state in Australia announced to ban YouTube in 1,600 government-owned schools. Now, YouTube users in Thailand were being redirected imageto the MICT website. MICT is a government agency that looks after the Internet censorship.

Anyway, the site was later restored. Well, no one has an idea of why it happened but one reason could be clips from a CNN interview that featured Thailand’s ex-Prime Minister Thaksin.

The concept of Web 2.0 moves around the users and the user generated content. But, that’s doesn’t makes any sense when the governments are deciding what to publish and what to not. Instead, it should be the users who should decide about what should they share and what not.

What I want to say is that these continuous bans on YouTube make me think time and again about the future of the user generated content. What is the future of Web 2.0 companies going to be?
