We are seeing a constant rise in the niche social network sites lately. It had to happen; there will be no stopping here. Almost everyday a new social network springs up targeting niche members. A few days back it was Weekendr, yesterday it was CrackSpace and today comes another - ReverbNation, which will connect artists, fans and in the future gig venues.
It will officially launch on Oct 31 and will provide MySpace music like services that we reported earlier.
It has other features as well for the artists like the ‘Fan Reach’ where you can organize your fans, mark fan genders and send targeted emails. As far as features for the fans go, there are all the basic things like profile pages etc. It also includes paylists where fans can queue up songs and launch a player on popup window. Of many other things, fans can bookmark shows too.
As Pete Cashmore writes in Mashable!, it has a great widget strategy. you can grab any show schedule and post it to blogs like this page in MySpace. I agree with him when he says that as MySpace becoming ‘center of the music universe’ bands might indeed want to use ReverbNation’s Fan Reach while retaining MySpace pages.
There is a big point in there. Can such social networks survive as a standalone site without revolving around MySpace?
