Known for its online shopping store, Amazon has also started to follow the footsteps of Apple with the launch of AmazonMP3 in the digital music market. With the AmazonMP3, Amazon will offer DRM free songs at a price of $1.29, which is more affordable price for its customers to buy non-DRM tracks on iTunes.
Another rumor which I heard and found very odd that FaceBook is going to be the next company to take on iTunes.
If FaceBook decides to launch an iTunes competitor existing music applications on the platform are not going to be happy until and unless they offer you a permission to become a lead generation tool for FaceBook.
Nick O’Neill of AllFacebook stated from past few months FaceBook is searchiong for new CEO, who can lead to this new subdivision. The company is signing different agreements to make record labels. Facebook was targeting college students but it is unfortunate that details are very limited.
Till now, facebook has more than 43 million customers. If more than 50 percent FaceBook customers are interested in music, then also it would be beneficial for FaceBook.
