The funding rounds had been going on from some time back but the total funding amount has been made public now only. The site enjoys 20 thousand registered users and helps them to meet sports players in your area and organize leagues.
Other than SportsVite, there are many other web services for frivolous athletes, teams, and leagues including Fanpage, FanNation, and SportsMate. No doubt, there is value in such sites owing to the interest of number of people in multiple sports. Anyhow, 20K is not such a striking figure to claim $2 million. So, they really need to get the traffic up by leaps and bounds.
