Time Warner has threatened to sue YouTube if its complaints regarding the misuse of copyright are not addressed properly. Speaking on this the Chairman and the chief Executive, Dick Parsons said the Warner group is concerned about the illegal use of its material on YouTube.
Parsons said,’ You can assume we are in negotiations with YouTube and that those negotiations will be kicked up to the Google level in the hope that we can get to some acceptable position.’

He denied allegations that this move has any thing to do with the Google’s acquisition of YouTube.
He reiterated ‘We were going to pursue it any way and if you let one thing ignore your right as an owner it becomes much more difficult to defend those rights when another person comes along.’
He said the group was not against the content displayed on YouTube but said it should be on the basis that it respects their rights as the owner of that content. Both YouTube and Google, which has also come under fire for infringing copyright, remove content where breaches can be demonstrated.
YouTube founder Chad Hurley played down copyright fears but said “We’re committed to developing tools to identify the content and monetise it so [content owners] can have a new outlet for their content.”
