VoIP company Verizon has dropped the controversial DSL surcharge that it started levying on customers along with BellSouth. Actually, the surcharge was an attempt to make up for the USF that the VoIP companies started fulfilling from August 01 in line with FCC regulations.
This move by Verizon and BellSouth took a controversial turn and even FCC boss Kevin Martin was not impressed. BellSouth rolled it back immediately but Verizon waited and waited. After all Verizon had this reason behind its decision to levy surcharge.
Well, now with Verizon rolling back too, the controversy is going to subside. Oh yes, big boy Kevin Martin is also happy.
