Vibely is the latest kid on the block offering niche social networking. This Washington DC-based startup is an attempt to connect venues and events. It has almost everything that you can expect from a social network like profile pages with pictures, friends’ network and a blog focused around particular venues.
The difference between the blog (jots) is that you need to pinpoint the location you are blogging upon. If the place is not in the database, you can add it much like adding schools in batchmates.com. There is a point earning system where you can earn points for tagging places, holding or scheduling events or inviting friends. These points can be then redeemed for dinner coupons etc.
There are separate pages for venues as well. These pages have a ranking system called vibe meter allowing visitors to rate it as strong, average or weak.
I guess sites like weekendr can emulate a few things from vibely. I will have to do a full check to see how useful the site is and what are the things that sets it apart (if at all) from other such sites.

Feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions or issues regarding Vibely.
Hope to see you in Vibely soon! Cheers!
