What’s YoName?

YoName, the site which is currently in beta phase, lets you search for any user on any of the major renowned social networks. Yoname looks for users across MySpace, LinkedIn, Digg, Facebook, Friendster, Match, and Xanga. Although the initiative is good, I am literally not impressed by the search capabilities. You don’t have the option to refine the search. When I tried searching with my UserName, it came with just one result. But, I had the same UserName at two of the social networks they search. The search results are accompanied with the user photo (if any), location, age, and a link to the public URL of the particular social network. They don’t offer you the option of saving the searches or any sort of updates on information. If they really need to go a long run, they need to enhance the search capabilities. YoName could be simply taken as a targeted people-search engine for the social network crowd.
