Last month, we were sniffing the possibility of some ‘Google Killer’ in the near future and we did talk about the Jimmy Wales’ new search engine dubbed Search Wikia that is slated to debut later this year. Jimmy Wales, founder of Wikipedia, has revealed his plans to roll out a new search engine to battle those of Google and Yahoo and said:
Wikia Inc., the commercial counterpart to the non-profit Wikipedia, is aiming to take as much as 5 percent of the lucrative Internet search market.
Wales thinks of using the collaborative search technology to transform the power structure of the Internet. Unlike Google’s undisclosed ranking algorithms, Wales finds it better to use the collaborative methodology that has made Wikipedia popular.
