We have earlier talked about some Google-killer and now, Tech magazine Fast Company has described Jimbo Wales as ‘Google’s Worst Nightmare.’ The man, who has make Wikipedia such a great success has already revealed his plans to roll out a new search engine to battle those of Google and Yahoo. I must quote his words which he said earlier.
Wikia Inc., the commercial counterpart to the non-profit Wikipedia, is aiming to take as much as 5 percent of the lucrative Internet search market.
He cited that the ’search,’ which is the fundamental infrastructure of the Internet has been broken due to lack of freedom, community, accountability, and transparency. And, he claims to change it all.
Wales thinks of using the collaborative search technology to transform the power structure of the Internet. He is on the hunt for people who can help them put up an open-source substitute for web search.
Wales hope to make the initial version of the new search engine available by the end of this year at search.wikia.com.
