Yahoo! seems to have opened up it’s homepage to the netizens. If you have visited the yahoo homepage recently, you will see some changes. Previously, every story article or link would take users to yet another page. Although this has changed, no clear visual changes can be seen yet.
As of now, Yahoo has started to include links to the outside content. But, the homepage still has the same looks. Basically, the items in all the sections except the Featured part, will now be linked to other items situated in outside areas. The selection is mostly done by editors.
When I personally visited the site, the links under the local tab were all external. Besides that, everything else appears to be pretty much the same. The search engine has actually made live links to outside sources like the NASA, Forbes, Time, The Wall street Journal, etc. Looks like the locals section will now have direct links to newspapers and news sources like Associated Press, Reuters, etc.
Yahoo is probably the most used search engine. Although, I think Google is better. Yahoo’s plans on providing links to external sources is a success. The CEO of Yahoo Jerry Yang thinks that Yahoo is starting point for most online consumers/customers.
