
The new service dubbed Yahoo! Alpha, which is in beta phase currently, allows the users to create their own custom search. Alpha looks somewhat similar to the Google Co-op. But I doubt it might affect the Yahoo powered Rollyo service (“roll your own search”) that lets you create search engines using the sources you trust.
Alpha lets you tailor your search by adding diverse information sources, which are RSS feeds in this case. For now, Alpha sports Yahoo! Web search, Wikipedia, Flickr, and YouTube but you can create your own search modules too.
Yahoo! Looks to be sniffing the idea of sharing ad revenue as Alpha features a module called “Sponsored Results” that shows text ads based on your search query. Although Alpha is in beta phase but it looks to be having the needed potential
